As we approach a new year, I look back on the past and forward to the promise of the future. I reflect on the life I once enjoyed with my husband, which is so different from the life I am now creating for myself. Yet, each has its unique challenges, joys, and direction.

I found myself sorting through a collection of greeting cards I’d designed many years ago. This one, created circa 1988, spoke to me this year. I had always been drawn to the idea of unicorns as expressions of our unique and potentially magical identities, so, unsurprisingly, I featured one on my card that year. The card initially had tiny gold sequin stars that I pasted to each one, but these had long fallen off. I used a bit of the new digital magic in my life to add new stars.

The message inside the card reads, “May You Follow Your Star…This Season and Always.” So many years later, I am still seeking out and hoping to be guided by the thought of a unique path waiting for me.
Searching for signs has always held meaning for me, along with the belief that there are glimmers of magic everywhere if I can only be open to noticing them.

As I navigate the holidays and embrace the new year, I hold these beliefs close to my heart and wish the same for you!
