Thoughts on Inspiration

Inspiration can be hard to come by, especially in late winter when I long for growing things and melting ice and snow.
The sun felt warmer than usual on a recent walk, and birds were enthusiastically singing. I felt the promise of approaching spring. I could imagine the soft green of springtime, the sky like delicate blue lace above the melting ice, and the crocuses soon to appear, pushing their bright blossoms skyward. I felt inspired by the certainty of new growth and blessed by the enchantment of nature. I felt magic glittering around me and welcomed this much needed affirmation.
Inspired by this experience, I created this small canvas. I depicted the snow and ice using snow flocking, glue, and modeling paste. I collaged the crocus with paper and ribbon, painted lace for the sky, and added a sprinkling of stars to symbolize these magical moments.
